The best deals you can get ahead of Amazon’s October Prime Day sale

In case you missed the news, Amazon recently announced a second Prime Day event for the fall. The two-day deal blitz, dubbed Prime Big Deal Days once again, will run from October 8th through the 9th, offering Prime subscribers a chance to save on all sorts of tech ahead of Black Friday. It’s still a couple of weeks away, but in typical fashion, Amazon has already rolled out a selection of early deals and discounts.

Admittedly, there aren’t that many gadgets on sale yet — and we’ll likely start to see better deals trickle in as we get closer to the event — but we’ve still managed to dig up a few solid deals, particularly for those already embedded in the Amazon ecosystem. These include sizable discounts on Amazon’s Echo Frames, as well as smart security devices, Fire tablets, mesh routers, and more.

The best audio and entertainment deals

• You can buy the Alexa Voice Remote Pro on sale at Amazon for $24.99 ($10 off), which marks an all-time low. Along with Amazon Alexa integration, the comfortable clicker offers a handy remote finder feature, which allows you to keep tabs on it using an Alexa-based smart speaker, Android, or iOS. • You can buy Amazon’s latest Fire HD 8 tablet at Amazon with ads and 64GB of storage for an all-time low of $59.99, down from $129.99. The newest Fire HD 10 offers a sharper display, but the Fire HD 8 is still a decent device for tapping into Amazon content, especially since it offers relatively long battery life and support for both USB-C and wireless charging. • If you’re a Prime member who has never subscribed to Amazon Music Unlimited, you can sign up for four months for free for a limited time. Non-Prime members, meanwhile, can get three months free. The ad-free streaming service typically costs $9.99 a month and grants access to more than 100 million songs as well as millions of podcast episodes.

The best deals on video doorbells

• If you want a really budget-friendly video doorbell, our top pick — the Blink Video Doorbell — is available at Amazon with a Sync Module 2 for $39.99 ($30 off), which is $5 shy of the bundle’s best price to date. The 1080p video doorbell offers all the basics you need, including support for motion detection, night vision, and two-way audio. You don’t get some of the more advanced features, including smart alerts, but the included Sync Module 2 lets you see a live view and use local storage without a premium subscription.

The best deals on smart security cameras

• Ring’s Stick Up Cam Battery has returned to its all-time low of $54.99 ($45 off) at Amazon. The battery-powered 1080p camera features a flexible mounting bracket and weatherproofing, so you can use it indoors or outside. It also supports two-way audio, night video, and motion alerts, though if you want to record video, you’ll need to pay for a Ring Protect plan (which starts at $4.99 a month).
• If you’re looking for an indoor security camera, the second-gen Ring Indoor Cam is also available at Amazon for $29.99 ($30 off), its lowest price to date. The wired security camera offers sharp 1080p HD resolution, along with a built-in siren and two-way audio. However, unlike its predecessor, it comes with color night vision and a physical privacy cover, which allows you to disable video and audio recording.
• The AA-powered Blink Outdoor 4, Amazon’s latest outdoor security camera, is on sale at an all-time low of $39.99 ($60 off) at Amazon. Like the Blink Video Doorbell, the 1080p camera offers all the essentials, including motion detection support, night vision, and two-way audio. It also offers a wider field of view than the previous model and onboard person detection — that is, as long as you’re willing to pay $3 a month for the privilege.

The best deals on Eero routers and other gadgets

• Eero’s last-gen router, the Eero Pro 6E, is on sale for $159.99 ($90 off) at Amazon, which marks a new all-time low. The mesh router was the first in Eero’s lineup to support Wi-Fi 6E and faster than gigabit speeds. Each unit covers up to 2,000 square feet, but you can buy extra routers if you want to expand coverage. Right now, for instance, a pair is going for $259.99 ($140 off) and a three-pack for $349.99 ($200 off). Read our review.
• Amazon’s older Eero 6 Plus mesh router is also on sale for $99 ($40 off) at Amazon, which is $10 shy of its best price to date. The dual-band gigabit system covers up to 1,500 square feet and supports over 75 connected devices. Unlike the faster Eero Pro 6E, however, it only supports Wi-Fi 6.
• You can buy Samsung’s black Galaxy Watch 6 Bespoke Edition with a Milanese band in the 44mm size for $279.99 ($100 off) at Amazon, which is $20 shy of its best price to date. The last-gen wearable lacks Samsung’s upgraded 3nm Exynos W1000 chip and BioActive Sensor but is still a good smartwatch that supports Wear OS 5.
